DESCRIPTION:Field Trip: Introduction to Grassland Birds\nSaturday, June 22 – 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.\nLocation: Hanley Farm\n\n*Rain Date: 6/23\nCome hike into the Hanley Farm Prairie unit of TPE’s Mounds View Grassland preserve where you will experience and learn about birds that require and depend upon open treed grassland habitat, many of which are in decline and considered Species of Greatest Conservation need. Grassland specialists we are likely to see and hear include meadowlark, bobolink, dickcissel, upland sandpiper, northern harrier, Henslow’s sparrow, and grasshopper sparrow, along with some species of brush and savanna habitat.\nWHAT TO WEAR/BRING:\n\nDress for the weather and bring water. Be prepared for a long hike (some off trail) and bring binoculars.\n\nWORK PARTY LEADER:\nIf you plan to attend, please let the trip leader know at least 12 hours in advance, in case of last-minute changes in the schedule or cancelation due to severe weather.
