DESCRIPTION:Weaver Dunes Walk\nSaturday, August 24 – 9:00 to Noon\nLocation: Weaver Dunes Scientific and Natural Area in Wabasha County\n\nJoin us at Weaver Dunes Scientific and Natural Area in Wabasha County for a walk through a unique sand prairie.\nThe sand prairie at Weaver Dunes SNA has a number of unique plants that we don’t normally see in other prairies of the region, including goat’s rue, silky prairie clover, field snake cotton, rough-seeded fameflower, and woolly beach heather. There will be plenty of opportunities to nerd out on plants, so bring your field guides and hand loupe. We’ll also talk about the unique soils and geology of the site as well as the unique wildlife.\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING:\nBring sunscreen, a hat to keep the sun off your face, insect repellent, and plenty of water or other hydrating liquid. Some folks will plan to eat lunch at the site so bring your lunch if you’d like to do that too. But if you pack it in, you’ll need to pack it out.\nWORK LEADER:\nIf you’d like to join us, or if you have any questions, send an email to Michelle Cochran. You’ll need to RSVP in case there are any last minute changes in the plans due to things like bad weather.
