SUMMARY:GLACIAL PRAIRIE WORK PARTY
DESCRIPTION:Mukwonago River Oak Barrens Workday\nWednesday, June 4 – 9:00 a.m. to Noon\nLocation: Mukwonago River Oak Barrens, Waukesha County\n\nPlease join us as we continue our efforts to restore a regionally unique oak barrens (a type of savanna on sand), moist savanna, low prairie, and sedge meadow that support rare animals and at least 239 native plant species (not including species planted/seeded). This site supports abundant clasping-leaved milkweed, frostweed, and rough blazingstar. We will be doing whatever work is most appropriate for the weather. In June, depending on weather, we may pull or cut and treat brush, girdle aspen, burn brush piles (when conditions are wet), or spread/plant seeds of early-ripening species.\n\n \nDIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy (flat and even terrain)\n\nWHAT TO BRING:\nBring loppers or other hand tools if you have them. Bring a folding or camp chair for chitchat at the end of work. A water bottle and bug spray is always a good idea.\nWORK PARTY LEADER:\n\nRSVP and contact Dan Carter (319-321-6513). Work is usually rain or shine, but RSVP to receive notice of any cancellations, changes, and/or details about the specific work planned once we know what the weather will be like. \nDIRECTIONS:\nOff of Waukesha County Hwy LO between the intersection of County Hwy E and Rainbow Springs Nature Preserve. Map here.\n
