DESCRIPTION:Kalscheur Oak Savanna Prairie Hike\nSaturday, July 5 – 10:00 a.m. to Noon\nLocation: Kalscheur Oak Savanna near Hollandale, WI\nThis hilly 19 acres contains diverse habitats containing 243 plant species. Prairies range from wet to dry. There’s a cold water stream, oak savannah and woodland. This is a trip in conjunction with The Prairie Enthusiasts. We expect to observe the normal prairie suspects, including Great Spangled, Aphrodite and Meadow Fritillaries. Fred Dike and someone from The Prairie Enthusiasts will guide us through the area.\nBe prepared for hill climbing\nWHAT TO BRING:\nWater, sun protection, a hat, insect repellent, and hiking shoes are recommended. Bring binoculars—the closer they focus, the better!\nFIELD TRIP CONTACT:\nContact Pam Skaar ( mailto:hyndla53704@yahoo.com ) if you would like to be contacted in case of cancellation or other changes.\nLOCATION:\nFrom Hollandale, drive 2 miles south on CTH K. Watch for cars parked along the road near 596 County Road K – this is the neighbors’ house across the street from the The Prairie Enthusiasts’ access easement. Park as far as possible off the road. Look for The Prairie Enthusiasts sign at the start of the access easement next to the highway. Head downhill from there, following the cleared corridor. At the bottom of the hill, cross the bridge, then you should be able to see and hear the workers on the site.\n
