SUMMARY:GLACIAL PRAIRIE WORK PARTY
DESCRIPTION:Mukwonago River Oak Barrens Workday\nThursday, July 10 – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\nLocation: Mukwonago River Oak Barrens, Waukesha County\n\nPlease join us as we continue our efforts to restore a regionally unique oak barrens (a type of savanna on sand), moist savanna, low prairie, and sedge meadow that support rare animals and at least 239 native plant species (not including species planted/seeded). This site supports abundant clasping-leaved milkweed, frostweed, and rough blazingstar. \nWe will be doing whatever work is most appropriate for the weather. Tasks this month are TBD, but remember to bring water and dress for the weather!\n\n \nDIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy (flat and even terrain)\n\nWHAT TO BRING:\nBring drinking water. Please wear long sleeves; long pants; and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Also take precautions to protect from sun, biting insects, and ticks. Bring work gloves and eye protection (glasses are fine), if you have them, but we also have extras. Feel free to bring your own tools that match the day’s activity. We can supply tools as well. If we plan on chemical treatment, appropriate training, chemical resistant gloves, and application equipment will be provided. If we burn piles, you will need outer layers made from natural fibers and a hat (we can also provide hard hats). \nWORK PARTY LEADER:\n\nRSVP and contact Dan Carter via email at dlcarterksu@gmail.com ( mailto:dlcarterksu@gmail.com ). Work is usually rain or shine, but RSVP to receive notice of any cancellations or other changes. Potential work plans may be changed depending on conditions.\nDIRECTIONS:\nOff of Waukesha County Hwy LO between the intersection of County Hwy E and Rainbow Springs Nature Preserve. Map here.\nNo signs mark the entrance. The property entrance is HERE ( https://www.google.com/maps/search/42.856882,+-88.426237?entry=tts&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MDcwMS4wKgBIAVAD ). We typically park along a broad mowed path HERE.
