SUMMARY:EMPIRE-SAUK: GRASSLAND CUT AND STUMP TREAT SCATTERED SMALL TREES
DESCRIPTION:Grassland Cut and Stump Treat Scattered Small Trees\nSaturday, November 14 – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.\nLocation: Dane County, WI\n\nThis not yet officially named, 36-acre property in southwest Dane County has been purchased on behalf of The Prairie Enthusiasts by a benefactor organization while The Prairie Enthusiasts raises the funds for the purchase. In the meantime, we are beginning management of the site by removing tree cover. Contractors have been engaged using grant money to remove large trees and thick tall brush primarily along fence lines. This leaves numerous scattered small trees in the interior to be removed.\nDuring this work party, we will begin to cut and stump treat small trees. The trees will be left where they fall to be collected and piled with a tractor at a later date. This will be relatively easy chainsaw work requiring no limbing of trees or piling. With enough people with chainsaws, we can make very good progress. Even small battery-powered chainsaws and mini saws would be useful for this work. People without saws could also be helpful.\nWHAT TO BRING:\nAll workers should have work gloves and appropriate protective equipment. Bring water.\nWORK PARTY LEADER:\nFor questions and to RSVP, contact Pat Handrick (patrick.handrick@gmail.com ( mailto:patrick.handrick@gmail.com )); (c) 608-354-3467 (texting preferred). Please contact if you are coming, so we know how many to expect and who to contact in case of cancellation.\nDIRECTIONS:\nFrom Mt. Vernon, drive south on CTH G about 5 miles. Turn left on CTH A for about 1.7 miles. Watch for cars parked along the right side of the road. Park as far as possible off the road.\n\n
