DESCRIPTION:Prescribed Burn Training – Empire Sauk Chapter\nSuccessful participation in this training, plus helping on two TPE burns as an apprentice, provides qualifications to be a new crew member on TPE burns. Class taught by: Rob Baller, Scott Fulton, Brandon Mann, and Andy Sleger Bring your own sack lunch. Class will be inside and consist of lecture with slides, including some lecture during lunch due to short library hours. Library opens 9 AM\nSample of topics addressed:\n• Fire Ecology\n• Fire behavior\n• Prescribed burn planning\n• Weather and other considerations\n• Fuels and firebreaks\n• Crew roles\n• Safety on the fire line\n• Tools and equipment\nA separate live fire training will be offered within a few weeks of the class. Attendees will be notified. All students may attend. Live fire class is usually held twice, a few hours in AM, again after lunch. Weather dependent.
