DESCRIPTION:BRUSH REMOVAL\nSaturday, June 24th – 9:00 AM to Noon\nLocation: Benedict Prairie\nThe Benedict Prairie Unit of The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Field Station consists of about six acres, 100 feet wide and one half mile long. It is on what was once a railroad right of way on the old Kenosha-Silver Lake-Beloit branch line of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.\nThis is an iconic and rare mesic prairie that was actually inventoried in the 1950’s by the famous professor John T. Curtis. Don’t miss your chance to work on this exceptional site.\nWe will continue work on this prairie by removing dense brush in the areas around and in the prairie.\nWHAT’S NEEDED:\nYou will need sturdy footwear, clothes that can get beat up and work gloves, plus a water bottle! This prairie is a joy to work on!\nDIRECTIONS\nI-94 to state hwy 50 (Kenosha/Lake Geneva exit) Hwy 50 west 1.5 miles to 144th Ave. South on 144th Ave 0.6 miles Benedict Prairie is on the east side.
