DESCRIPTION:Empire-Sauk Field Trip \nTuesday, June 13 – 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM\nLocation: Mounds View Grasslands\nCome hike into the newest addition to TPE’s Mounds View Grassland preserve, the Hanley Farm Prairie unit, where you will experience and learn about birds that require and depend upon open trees grassland habitat, many of which are in decline and consider Species of Greatest Conservation need. Grassland specialist we are likely to see and hear include meadowlark, bobolink, dickcissel, upland sandpiper, northern harrier, Henslow’s sparrow, and grasshopper sparrow, along with some species of brush and savanna habitat. Be prepared for a long hike (some off trail) and bring binoculars.\nDIRECTIONS\nFrom the intersection of US Hwy 18-151 and County F (south of Blue Mounds in western Dane County), take F south for 4.4 miles. Two hundred yards past address 2906, park along the west side of the road. (Note: A half mile down F from 18-151, pay close attention to the road signs, for F turns to the right & the straight ahead road becomes County Z.
