DESCRIPTION:Restoration Tour of Grell Prairie\nSaturday, June 24th – 9:30 AM\nLocation: Grell Prairie\nThe property, owned by Marty Grell, is prairie and oak barren that survived by being a pasture and too steep for crop farming. It is in recovery from 100 years of grazing and woodland encroachment. Brush and tree removal, followed by periodic burns have been done since 1994. Diverse plant life, such as Scutellara parvula (small skullcap), Amorphia canescens (leadplant), Talinum rugospermum (fame flower) and other moderate to dry prairie plants are present. The view from the burr oak savanna atop the hill (Little Roundtop) on the east end of the property will make the climb scenic and memorable.\nDifficulty: Moderate. We will be walking uphill on the hillside site and up a steeper grade at the east end.\nDIRECTIONS\n31302 Harper Hill Lane, Lone Rock, WI 53556. THIS IS THE CLOSEST ADDRESS AVAILABLE. The actual site is 100 yards further northwest off County Highway B. (Look for the rusty bent gate.)  Due to very limited parking space PLEASE park off the side of County Highway B by the rusty gate. (Also look for the Grell Prairie sign.)
