SUMMARY:COULEE REGION & MINNESOTA DRIFTLESS FIELD TRIP
DESCRIPTION:Brownsville Bluff Hike\nSaturday, August 26 – 10:00 AM to Noon\nLocation: 105 6th St. N, Brownsville, MN\nJoin us for a special tour of the Brownsville Remnant Bluff Prairie! You’ll hear all about the upcoming restoration planned to begin this fall through a partnership between The Prairie Enthusiasts, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service – Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and the Minnesota Land Trust. We will enjoy the beauty of late summer blooms, butterflies and other insects and a spectacular view of the Mississippi River valley. If we are lucky, we may even spot Leonard’s skippers or Northern Flower moths! \nThere will be a short hike through a wooded area with no trail to reach the prairie so long pants and closed toe shoes are recommended. As is true of most bluff prairies, the hike will require walking up moderately steep slopes, but we will take our time hiking up. After exploring the prairie, we will follow a trail across the top of the bluff through oak-hickory woodland and then follow a mowed trail through the woods back down to the parking area. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and water. A walking stick will come in handy too!\nThis event is being co-sponsored by the Coulee Region Chapter and the Minnesota Driftless Chapter. It will be a great opportunity to meet, mingle with and learn from TPE members from across the river!\nWHAT TO BRING:\n\nDIRECTIONS:\nMeet at 105 6th St. N, Brownsville, MN. Park anywhere along the street or in the Community Center parking lot.\nGoogle ( https://www.google.com/maps/place/105+6th+St,+Brownsville,+MN+55919/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x87fbf944a41d56c5:0xa91dbc55ade7f65f?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiv6tfml9yAAxX0JTQIHZxtDRAQ8gF6BAgbEAA&ved=2ahUKEwiv6tfml9yAAxX0JTQIHZxtDRAQ8gF6BAgeEAI )\nWORK PARTY LEADER: \nRSVP and questions can be sent to Laurie Arazaga via EMAIL ( MAILTO:laarzaga@gmail.com )\n\n
