DESCRIPTION:Wildlife, Unique Soils & Geology\nSaturday, September 30 – 9:00 a.m. to Noon \nLocation: Weaver Dunes Scientific and Natural Area\nJoin us at Weaver Dunes Scientific and Natural Area in Wabasha County for an early fall walk through a unique sand prairie.\nThe sand prairie at Weaver Dunes SNA has a number of unique plants that we don’t normally see on other prairies in the region, including goat’s rue, silky prairie clover, field snake cotton, rough-seeded fameflower, and woolly beach heather\nWe’ll talk about the unique soils and geology of the site as well as the unique wildlife.  And there will be plenty of opportunities to nerd out on plants, so bring your field guides and hand loupe.\nWHAT TO BRING:\nBring sunscreen, a hat to keep the sun off your face, insect repellent, and plenty of water or other hydrating liquid.  Some folks will plan to eat lunch at the site so bring your lunch if you’d like to do that too.  But if you pack it in, you’ll need to pack it out.\nDIRECTIONS:\nWe’ll meet at the north end of 124th Avenue, which you can see if you click on this Google Maps link:\nhttps://goo.gl/maps/s1kqUygfvRP62mgP8\nWORK PARTY LEADER:\nIf you’d like to join us, or if you have any questions, send an email ( mailto:WinterSL8944@gmail.com ) to Steve Winter.
