This site has a panoramic view over the valley of Sugar River into Illinois.
Accessibility: Difficult. There are no trails and the parking lot is quite far from the prairie.
Access & Directions: Visitors should park in the small gravel parking lot off Beloit-Newark Road, a half-mile east of Nelson Road, in the Rock County town of Avon, which is west of Beloit and southeast of Brodhead. Take Highway 81 out of Brodhead a few miles and turn south on Nelson Road, then east on Beloit-Newark. The nearest fire number is 15347 W. Beloit-Newark Road for our neighbor to the west. From the parking lot walk south along the fence line, up the hill and over the ridge to the south-facing one-acre prairie.

Access & Directions: From the intersection of Highways 78 and KP in Black Earth, go west on KP 1.1 miles, then south on F 0.25 mile, then west on Fesenfeld Road 0.2 mile to a small parking area south of the road. If the parking lot is occupied, park on the north side of the road.

Access & Directions:From the west side of Fennimore, head south on Rodger Hollow Road for 2.7 miles. Turn right onto Townline Road. Go west for 0.8 miles. Turn left (south) on Mt Ridge Road. Go 1/3 mile to the access road and parking lot to Borah Creek Prairie on the right, at 11949 Mt Ridge Road.

Access & Directions: Briggs Wetlands lies on the west side of Brostuen Road between Beloit-Newark Road and Cleophus Road northwest of Beloit in Rock County, Wisconsin. State highways 11 and 213 are the nearest main arteries for visitors. There is no parking lot, but you can park along the east side of Brostuen Road. Access is by foot-traffic only. There are two springs near the sign on the east edge of the property. A wet prairie contains many tussock sedges (Carex stricta) which make hiking difficult.

Access & Directions: Located roughly 1/3 mile north of the intersection CTY FF and Ladwig Road, located in the southeast quarter of Section 5 of Sylvester Township (T2N, R8E) in Green County. There is no easy access to this site, no fire number, no marked entrance lane or parking lot. Instead we have a 20-foot wide driveway easement north from County FF, between Dutch Hollow and Ladwig Roads that follows fence lines approximately two-thirds of a mile to the base of the broad hill.

Access & Directions: From the east, go to the intersection of Highway 133 and County Road C west of Woodman. Proceed west on County Road C 4.7 miles to the rock quarry on the right., where we will congregate. From the west, go to the intersection of Highway 18 and County Road C, a few miles east of Prairie du Chien. Drive east on County C for 7.8 miles. Just past the settlement of Millville you will come to the rock quarry on the left.

Eldred Prairie is located on a low ridge with a dry mesic quality and somewhat sandy soil.

Access & Directions: Eldred Prairie is located on Lincoln Road just east of Lancaster. The easiest way to get there is by way of Highway 129, the highway that diverts Highway 61 traffic around the east side of Lancaster. From the north, Lincoln Road is approximately 1 ½ miles south from the north intersection of 61 and 129. From the south, it is about one mile north of the south intersection of 61 and 129. Drive east on Lincoln Road for about two miles. The entrance gate is at the east end of the property at the top of the hill.

Access & Directions: Public access to Iltis Savanna is from the parking lot of Muralt Bluff, next to W2635 County F, between Monticello and Albany. Take the hiking path up the steep bluff to the top of the hill, and then walk east toward the oak trees.

Access & Directions: The address for the site is 18663 West River Road, Gays Mills, WI 54631. From the village of Gays Mills, WI drive west on HW 171. As you cross the Kickapoo River take the immediate next left onto River Road. Continue south for 2 miles to Iris Drive on your right. The rural route number is posted along River Road a few hundred feet south of the intersection. To access the prairies, turn right onto Iris Drive and continue for 1,000 feet. There is a farm lane entrance on your right that you can turn into and park off of the road.

Access & Directions: Located in Green County, Wisconsin, between Monroe and Monticello off Highway 69. Go west on either Center Road or Cold Springs Road, which merge, and go west 1 mile to W5677 Center Road. Access to the prairies is on foot from the driveway, past the cemetery via the unpaved maintenance two-track. To get to the big prairie, proceed downhill to the south via a 50-foot wide access through old pasture.
