EMPIRE SAUK FIELD TRIP TO BLUESTEM FARM

View the fringed orchid blooms

Sunday, July 30th – 2:00 PM

Location: Bluestem Farm, S5920 Lehman Rd., Baraboo, WI 53913

Rain Date: Tuesday, August 1st – 2:00 PM

Depending on the year, there are between 0 and 60 purple fringed orchids in bloom, depending on rainfall and the whim of the orchids.  But we also have many other nice species in bloom and lots of bumble bees and other fauna.  We often find orchids in drier spots for viewing but be prepared for wet feet.

NOTE:

All field trips will look at plantings and restoration projects at various stages and with different management histories. Be prepared for weather, ticks, etc.  Hikes will be from 1/2 to 1 1/2 miles long, depending on what’s in bloom, where, and stamina of participants. Alternate date in case of severe weather.
