COULEE REGION AND FRIENDS OF THE BLUFFLANDS WORK PARTY

Fall Work Day at La Crosse River State Trail

Saturday, September 20 – 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Location: La Crosse River State Trail in Rockland, WI

Starting in September, we will begin our collaborative workdays with the Friends of the Blufflands. Each week there will be a Wednesday and Saturday workday alternating between City of La Crosse properties and Coulee Region Chapter project sites. Our Chapter sites include Marowski Bluff Prairie and Holland Sand Prairie, along with several private lands we’ve been working on. Work will include such tasks as seed collecting, cutting and treating brush, and firebreak construction. Weather will often determine the activity, and we will transition as it gets closer to winter.

Work party focus: Cut and treat. The plan is to remove the woody species growing in the “Rockland Showcase Prairie”.  After 10:00 a.m., we will transition to a hiking and biking field trip to explore the railroad remnant. To learn more about the field trip and to RSVP, click HERE.

WHAT TO BRING:
Water, sturdy shoes, gloves, and dress for the weather.

WORK PARTY LEADER:
Everyone on the Coulee Region Chapter volunteer list will get details on all workdays. If you haven’t been getting those emails and would like to, let Jim Rogala know (email).

The event is finished.
