About Our Chapter
Prairie Sands Chapter is located in the geological center of Wisconsin in the sandy soils of ancient glacial lakes.
This region features some of the state’s premier examples of remnant dry prairies, pine barrens and oak savannas. Research and protection for the endangered Karner blue butterfly and the greater prairie chicken is centered in this region.
The Prairie Sands chapter covers Adams, Marquette, Juneau, Portage, Waushara, Waupaca, and Green Lake Counties in Wisconsin. We invite you to join us!

Jen and Jay Mulder have volunteered to be our chapter Membership Coordinator. They will be reminding you of when your The Prairie Enthusiasts membership dues need to be renewed. Thank you Jen & Jay for volunteering to do this tedious but necessary job.

PAST EVENTS
April 13th, 2023: David and Shelley Hamel hosted twenty-four chapter members to tour their bog, listen to spring frogs and discuss restoration strategies over a meal at their second “Frogs, Bogs and Hot Dogs” event. David said, “ We got to see the earliest Pasque flowers, and Buttercups. We got to hear the Wood frogs and the Spring peepers. We swapped a lot of experiences with attempts to raise a prairie.”
