Cutting and Treating Brush at Swenson Bluffs Preserve

Saturday, December 20 – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Location: Swenson Bluffs Preserve in Arena, WI

Winter has finally arrived. Cold and snow will be our guide for where we work, and, as always, there are many places to work at Swenson Prairie and many things to do. We will be cutting, treating, and – fingers crossed – burning brush.

This is the annual Solstice “party” at Swenson. Scott will read a poem appropriate to the season. Hot drinks and snacks will add to the festivities.

WHAT TO BRING:

If you have a favorite winter poem, please bring it. Wear sturdy boots, gloves, and bring a water bottle. If you have your own tools, please bring them. Scott will provide the herbicide.

DIRECTIONS:

Address is 7352 Mellum Rd, Arena WI. From Highway 14 just west of Arena, turn south on Highway H. Go 2.5 miles and turn left/east on Mellum Road. In 0.2 miles turn left at the first driveway you come to. Park at the end on the left or along the driveway. Do not block the neighbors who share the driveway. The blue house is the neighbor. The red shed is The Prairie Enthusiasts.
