GLACIAL PRAIRIE WORK PARTY

Seed Collecting at Prairie Home Cemetery

Saturday, September 27 – 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Location: Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, WI

One of the Glacial Prairie Chapter’s earliest efforts is likely the least well-known to chapter membership: The City of Waukesha’s Prairie Home Cemetery. In 2010 the (former) cemetery director hired a firm to plant 13 acres to prairie—3 of them dedicated to natural burial.

We need help keeping this prairie going by collecting seed to spread!

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: Easy (seed collecting)

WHAT TO BRING:

Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants and a sun hat. Bring work gloves, a pruner and water. Also, sun screen and insect spray, if so desired.
