Remnant Restoration Workday
Sunday, November 23 – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: Hay Creek Hills Farm in Red Wing, MN
Calling all prairie lovers!
I have an EQIP contract supporting the restoration of a small remnant prairie and oak savanna, and I need your help! Expect to commit 4 hours with 3 actively working.
I’m so excited to have these two workdays in November! We’ve already cleared the “messy stuff” like small buckthorn, bittersweet, and deadfalls. These should be efficient workdays with clear, attainable objectives–and a nice social time afterward! I hope you can join us!
For this unique project, we’ll work on Phase 1 of 3: clearing ½ of the remnant prairie. Because two rare species of bats (northern long eared and tricolored) are active in the area during the warmer months, we’ve only been allowed to brush everything < 3” diameter. Come November, however, with the bats in hibernation, we can finally finish this portion. I hope you can make it to one or both workdays. We’ll have fun working together and finish with roasting hotdogs over the fire and toasting to our accomplishments!
