SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN WORK PARTY

Cutting and Treating

Saturday, October 14 – 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Location: Double Oak Savanna

At Double Oak, we will need to do a rather steep hike from the road to the top of the rock quarry. Once there we will be cutting and treating some small trees and honeysuckle to open the area to sunlight. We will also cut and stack down trees to prepare them to be burned in the winter.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:

Please bring chainsaws, loppers and whatever you use to treat stumps with herbicide. We will provide the chemicals.

If you bring your lunch, we can adjourn to Jack Kussmaul’s, just down the road to enjoy water and have a meal together as we overlook the river.

WORK PARTY LEADER:

DIRECTIONS:

Double Oak Savanna is located on Highway C northern Grant County, midway between State Highway 133 and State Highway 18. The closest street address is 10052 County Road C, Woodman, Wisconsin. If you are coming from the west, take Highway C east from Highway 18. It is roughly eight miles. If you are coming from the east, take Highway C west from Highway 133. It is about five miles to the rock quarry, which is at the bottom of the hill on the right.

The event is finished.
