GLACIAL PRAIRIE EVENT: PRAIRIES, SAVANNAS, FENS AND BARRENS

Native Ecosystems in Waukesha County

Sunday, June 9 – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: Badertscher Preserve and Meyer Barren

Challenging hike: long, off-trail hike with steep sections.

Discover unique native ecosystems hidden in southeastern Wisconsin! Explore prairie, oak savanna, woodlands and fen among glacial topography in Badertscher Preserve. Then, off to Mukowonago River Oak Barrens to hike through rare oak barrens on wind-deposited sand along the Mukwonago River. Learn from local restoration experts while enjoying the colorful blooms of blue toadflax, hairy puccoon, wild lupine and Ohio spiderwort.

Limit: 20 People

LEADERS:

Jessica Bizub, Dan Carter and Tom Zagar.

Trail: 4-5 miles, some off-trail, steep, rocky.
