COULEE REGION: BUTTERFLIES & OTHER INSECTS OF PRAIRIE HAVEN
Wildlife Hike
Saturday, June 24th – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Location: Prairie Haven (exact location available after registering)
Marcie and Mike O’Connor have been reconstructing, restoring and managing the prairie and savanna on their Buffalo County property for 23 years. Managing for insects has become an important part of the project, and Prairie Haven has become a haven for many species of butterflies, moths and other insects. We will go for about a 1.5 mile hike to see the various habitats and enjoy the butterflies and insects we find. Most of the walk is on a flat mowed trail, but there is some steep terrain at the beginning and the end.
Event will occur June 24, 2023 from 9am – 2 pm. Bring a bag lunch, and if you like, a blanket or small chair to sit on so we can eat out on the trail. (We can transport some gear and give rides to folks that may not be able to hike the whole route.)
Marcie and Mike are careful about COVID-19, so they ask that you bring masks to wear inside to use the bathroom.
