MANY RIVERS WORK PARTY
Shrub & Tree Removal
Saturday, March 2 – 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Ottawa Bluffs Nature Preserve
We will probably be working in the eastern part of the preserve, removing a grove of large European buckthorns which are just over the property line (with the owner’s permission). We will be piling the slash for later burning unless we get some unexpected snow between now and then. The next task will be removing some more fire intolerant trees from the savanna in the east unit, again stacking for burning later. There are also several large, fallen oaks which should be cleaned up before the next prescribed fire season, which may be next spring. Consider joining us.
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:
Please bring a lunch, plenty of beverage, appropriate (sturdy) foot wear, and work gloves. Leather gloves work best for brush work, thinner gloves (or none) for seed collection. Dress in layers with an eye toward the weather. Rain, snow, or shine, we will be out there.
