MINNESOTA DRIFTLESS FIELD TRIP

Tour: Shooting Star Native Seeds Facility and Production Plots

Friday, June 21 – 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Location: Shooting Star, near Spring Grove

From its early beginnings on a family farm in Spring Grove, Minnesota, Shooting Star Native Seeds has grown into a full-service native seed facility. This 30+ year-old company now has over 2,500 acres of native grasses, wildflowers, sedges, and rushes in production from seed sources throughout the Midwest. This tour will bring you into the heart of Shooting Star’s Spring Grove, Minnesota operations – you’ll see commercial production fields in bloom, the seed cleaning facility, and warehouse operations. You’ll hear about Shooting Star’s rich history and learn how this native seed helps to restore tens of thousands of acres of native prairies and wetlands in commercial, municipal, and private projects across the Midwest each year.

If you’d like to participate in this field trip, please send your RSVP to Steve Winter (WinterSL8944@gmail.com). In the event the field trip needs to be cancelled, Steve will send that cancellation notice to the people who have sent their RSVP.

Please note that while the seed warehouse is accessible, the seed cleaning facility requires that attendees navigate several steps. For the portion of the field trip to the production fields, access is via dirt roads whose quality may be impacted by weather. If you have questions about accessibility, please contact Steve Winter (WinterSL8944@gmail.com).
