PRESCRIBED BURN TRAINING – ST. CROIX VALLEY CHAPTER

One of our chapter burn bosses will cover the basics of fire behavior and management. There will be hands-on experience with tools. Weather permitting, the class will burn a planted prairie unit at The Acreage.

Who It Is For

Anyone who wants to volunteer as a crew member on local TPE chapter burns and anyone interested in learning more about prescribed burns.

What to Bring

Natural fiber clothing (cotton or wool, not polyester or other synthetics) and leather boots are required. Bring leather or cotton gloves, a cap and bandana.

A pizza lunch will be provided! Feel free to bring your own if you care not for pizza.

You must be 18 years of age to take the course, or 16 years old with parental authorization.

The classroom portion (8am-1pm) will be held regardless of weather.

In case of rain or unsuitable weather, the field portion and a prescribed burn will be scheduled for another day. The field portion must be completed in order to qualify as a TPE burn volunteer.

If you have already taken the class and you need only the Field Practice, come at 1:00 pm.
