ST CROIX VALLEY: Oak woodland planting event
Sunday, November 1

Heart-leaved skullcap (Scutellaria ovata)
Noon until about 3pm or when you must leave
Help us plant uncommon oak woodland plants grown by Wayne Huhnke of Kinnickinnic Natives!
They will be bare-rooted (see pictures below) so their roots directly touch the savanna soil.
We are working on the gently sloped shady side of the bluff that faces the highway. This is where the white oaks grow; bur oaks grow farther up the slope and on the ridgetop.
If we have time, we can also sow seeds of Seneca snakeroot, savanna thistle (Cirsium altissimum), perfoliate horse-gentian, and sky-blue aster in the same area.
If you arrive late, walk up the path parallel to the highway through the woods. Look for us on the left.
Please RSVP to this event to ensure we bring enough plants.
