
CHIPPEWA SAVANNAS PRESCRIBED BURN TRAINING
Chippewa Savannas Chapter Prescribed Burn Training
Saturday, April 12 – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: UW Stout (classroom portion) and Dobbs Landing (burn site)
This is basic crew member training for anyone who wants to volunteer on local chapter burns, or who is just interested in learning more about prescribed burns. Completion of this training (classroom and field) qualifies you as an Apprentice on our burn crew. Apprentices will become Crew Members after participating in two prescribed burns.
Chapter experts will cover the basics of fire ecology, behavior and management in a classroom setting in the morning, followed by hands-on experience with tools. Weather-permiting, we will ignite and extinguish a grass fire in the afternoon
Break for lunch and travel to field training site is 12-1pm. Participants are responsible for providing their own lunch. Dining options are available on UW-Stout’s campus.
