CHIPPEWA SAVANNAS WORK DAY & HIKE

SWEET CLOVER REMOVAL AND HIKE

Saturday, June 24th – 9:00 AM to Noon

Location: Maiden Rock Bluff

Rain date: Saturday, July 1st

Join Mark Leach (Chapter Scientist) and Katie Hahn (Chapter Chair) on an approximately 2-mile botanical meander at beautiful Maiden Rock Bluff SNA, overlooking Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River. Terrain will be mostly flat to rolling, with opportunities to explore some steeper areas. Firebreaks will serve as our trail, so while there will be a path, it may not be mowed or maintained. We will take some time to remove sweet clover from the prairie. Meet at the Maiden Rock Bluff SNA “trailhead” at the ridgetop parking area at the dead end of Long Lane.

WHAT’S NEEDED:

Long pants and closed toe shoes are recommended. Please bring a parsnip predator or shovel along with your prairie enthusiasm!

DIRECTIONS

The meet up location will be the dead end of Long Lane. Location can be found here https://goo.gl/maps/bzNZqTPqxg1DuRCLA
