EMPIRE-SAUK CHAPTER ANNUAL PICNIC

Chapter Picnic

Saturday, July 22 – 4:00 PM

Location: Pleasure Valley Conservancy

Hope you will join other Empire-Sauk Chapter members at our annual potluck picnic. Our hosts this year are Pat Trochlell and Ken Wade. There will be a short meeting where we will vote on officers – for chair and secretary (nominations are encouraged) – and then an optional field trip to Parrish Oak Savanna where there is a good chance we’ll have false foxglove, upland boneset, woodland Joe-Pye and sunflowers blooming.

WHAT TO BRING:

A dish to pass, cups, plates and utensils, in addition to chairs. I think we’ll be borrowing chairs and tables from MV, but it’s probably best if you bring your own

ABOUT THE FIELD TRIP LOCATION:

Parrish Oak Savanna is a biologically diverse 29-acre remnant of original oak savanna, dry to dry-mesic prairie and oak woodlands. It was acquired by TPE in 2013 and designated a State Natural Area in 2015. More than 235 species of plants are present and it supports Red-headed Woodpeckers and other savanna specialists. A ridge affords impressive views of Blue Mounds and Brigham Park and a continuous protected corridor between these sites.

LOCATION & DIRECTIONS:

Pleasure Valley Conservancy is at 10747 Moyer Rd, Blue Mounds, WI 53517. From US 151/US18, turn onto County F and travel north approximately 4 miles to Moyer Road, turn left (west) and travel 0.3 miles, driveway is the first on the left. From Co Hwy J, go south on Co Hwy F for 2 miles to Moyer Road.

The event is finished.
