GLACIAL PRAIRIE WORK PARTY
Lulu Lake State Natural Area Work Day
Saturday, February 22
Location: Lulu Lake SNA
Help remove buckthorn from this State Natural Area, a mixture of wetland and upland plant communities, including tamarack forests and calcareous fens, in the Southern Kettle Moraine.
WORK PARTY LEADER:
Contact Nancy Gloe with questions and to RSVP.
DIRECTIONS:
Lulu Lake SNA, Hwy E just north of the intersection with Hwy J in Waukesha County.
Hello Nancy, my name is Pete Kesselhon, we met recently in the parking lot at the Lulu Lake State Forest on Hwy E north of Hwy J (January 17th I believe).
I questioned you on what the “grandiose plan” was for this area. You made mention of who you were and what your organization was doing, noting that your organization collaborates with the DNR but is its own entity. Succinctly put, you said your group is helping to remove buckthorn so the prairie grass can flourish.
I told you, I hike and keep the paths clear; noting that hiking is my favorite pastime (me and my dog). I spoke of the two most evil weeds hikers encounter, Mult-flowered Rose and Prickly Ash.
Anyway, I have an interest to help, but I have one drawback, my dog Sadie wants to help too.
Let me know if my dog is allowed. This would be a game changer for me.
Thanks,
Pete
