MINNESOTA DRIFTLESS: ANNUAL SUMMER MEETING & ELECTIONS, POTLUCK PICNIC AND FIELD TRIP
Annual Summer Meeting & Elections, Potluck Picnic, and Field Trip
Saturday, July 13 – 10:00 a.m.
Location: Chester Woods in Olmsted County
The Minnesota Driftless Chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts will hold its annual summer meeting and elections, followed by a potluck picnic and field trip, on Saturday, July 13th, at Chester Woods Park in Olmsted County. This is where we had last year’s annual summer meeting and it was an enjoyable location.
We’ll meet at 10:00 at picnic shelter #6, which you can navigate to by following this link to Google Maps. You can see the picnic shelters in this part of the park, including shelter #6, by following the links to this map (scroll down) and this other map.
We’ll start the day’s activities with the chapter meeting at 10:00. During the meeting, board members will review the activities of the previous year and everyone can talk about ideas for the following year. We’ll also hold elections for two of the chapter board positions, Vice-chair and Treasurer.
Following the meeting, we’ll have the potluck picnic at approximately 11:30. For the potluck picnic, everyone can bring a dish to share with others, as well as bring beverages and tableware for themselves.
Following lunch we’ll have the field trip. We don’t have a specific or approximate start time for the field trip because it will follow both the meeting and picnic. And we haven’t yet decided on a specific part of the park for the field trip, but it will likely involve a caravan from picnic shelter #6 to the chosen field trip location. If you’re only interested in the field trip, and that’s fine if that’s the case, it might be best if you arrived at picnic shelter #6 before the picnic is finished so the caravan doesn’t leave without you.
If you’re planning to participate in any of the day’s activities, please EMAIL your RSVP to Steve Winter. Be sure to send Steve your RSVP because if the event has to be cancelled, the cancellation notice will be sent to the people who have RSVPd.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Feel free to bring a lawn chair if you don’t think you’d enjoy sitting at the picnic tables during the meeting and lunch.
- Don’t forget your sunscreen and insect repellent. And maybe a hat to keep the sun off your face.
- It might be hot so be sure to bring plenty of hydrating fluids to keep you healthy and happy.
