MINNESOTA DRIFTLESS FIELD TRIP

Forestry Field Day and Prairie Walk

Wednesday, July 24 – 3:00 p.m. to Sunset

Location: Joel and Barb Mielke property, Preston, MN

Join us on Wednesday, July 24th, at Joel and Barb Mielke’s property to see how they’re using cattle to control buckthorn, as well as a walk through remnant prairie, planted prairie, savanna, and woodland.

The event will start at 3:00, a supper will be provided at 5:00, followed by more exploration of the property until sunset.

The event is being organized and sponsored by the Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District, and cosponsors include the Minnesota Driftless Chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts, The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Forestry Association, and Preston Equipment Company.

DIRECTIONS:

The address is 24024 County Road 17, Preston, MN 55965 and here’s a Google Maps link to the address. If you’re traveling from Preston, head north on County Road 17 and in approximately 2.5 miles the driveway will be on the right, marked with signs.
