MINNESOTA DRIFTLESS AND NATURE CONSERVANCY WORK PARTY

Seed Collecting at Weaver Dunes

Saturday, August 23 – 10:00 a.m.

Location: Weaver Dunes SNA in Kellogg, MN

Join Minnesota Driftless Chapter volunteers and Nature Conservancy volunteers for this seed collecting work day to collect native plant seeds.

ALERTS:
Poisin ivy grows in many places around the preserve and while we will try to avoid it, no promises can be made. Dogs are not allowed on the preserve. Snakes are a likely encounter at Weaver Dunes.

We will cancel in the event of a heat index over 90 degrees, lightning and/or downpour.

DIFFICULTY:
Will be bending/kneeling to plant height, as small as 1 foot off the ground. Slow walking totaling between 1-3 miles.

WHAT TO BRING:
Bring water, a lunch and snacks, rain jacket/weather appropriate clothing, a sun hat and sunscreen. We also recommend you bring boots or rain boots you can tuck your pants into (helps with poison ivy), carabiners (to attach milk jugs to our pants for seed receptacles) or belts, bungee cords, etc. to help string milk jugs to your waist.

WORK PARTY LEADER:
Please RSVP and direct any questions to Kallyn at (Kallyn.rapp@tnc.org).

LOCATION:
Meet at Weaver Dunes Field Office at 60042 Wabasha County Road, Kellogg, MN.

The event is finished.
