ST. CROIX VALLEY field trip to a mature pollinator prairie landscape

Time:  10 am – Noon

Location:  Ruth and Harvey’s Prairie

1520 96th St. New Richmond, WI
(5 miles west of New Richmond in The Glens of the Willow sub-division)

Note:  Avoid taking 100th St as it is under reconstruction. Ruth recommends — just south of Boardman turn left onto 140th Ave.  Turn right onto 95th St then right into sub-division.  Their house is blue with solar panels.

Ruth and Harvey’s Prairie Potluck Field Day with
The St. Croix Valley Prairie Enthusiasts

Featuring:   

★ 5-year-old ¾ acre native prairie, 2 native plant raingardens, transplanted native shrub border, 10-year-old transplanted bur oaks, tree spaded 12 year old white spruce border, and paths and lawn of eco-mow fescue.

★ Up to 46 native flower species in bloom including: dotted blazing star, azure blue aster, purple prairie clover, compass plant, butterfly milkweed, New Jersey tea, showy goldenrod

★ Recent prairie management: 24, 2024 – Burned management unit to reinvigorate prairie grasses and overseeded with favorite forbs.  May 8, 2025 – Burned management unit to suppress brome patch.

★ Home with solar panels is 6 years old.

Bring:

★ A dish to share for the potluck lunch
★ a hat
★ bug spray
