ST. CROIX VALLEY field trip to an “in progress” prairie planting

In 2018, Heidi and Grant converted 1.4 acres of lawn into a native prairie primarily to reduce the time and effort spent on mowing. The project was partially funded through cost-share programs from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources and the Valley Branch Watershed District. This year, they began a 1.7-acre woodland restoration project after removing (most) of the buckthorn.
