Who We Are
Cheri spent most of her working life as a Children’s Librarian for the Chicago Public Library. During these years, she would escape the city with her husband, Harold, and two sons to the family “cabin” in Waushara County. Their respite time was spent walking the fields and the Bannerman Trail or canoeing on the White River. Cheri began her journey of learning about mid-west prairies by joining the Prairie Sands Chapter in 2023. Cheri and Harold purchased 26 more acres of recreational land adjoining the family land in May 2025. Cheri is looking forward to the restoration work as a retirement project. The first priority of this prairie project is to remove the buckthorn and the knapweed. She is finishing up a short career working with special needs students where she often implements her motto, “Let’s go outside!”
