Help collect prairie seed
Elymus hystrix (bottlebrush grass)
We will meet at the Alexander oak savanna parking lot, then car pool to a nearby roadside to collect Bottlebrush grass (Elymus hystrix).
Date: August 19 (Wednesday)
Time: 10am – Noon
We have collection buckets!
You may want gloves! The grass is kindof pokey!
Directions: Take highway 35 south towards River Falls.
Take highway 65 south (35 turns into 65) toward Ellsworth.
Gravel road entrance is on the right just after the Town of River Falls town hall.

Buckthorn!
Join us as we cut and stump treat buckthorn at Dieperink Woods (formerly called Brokken Woods).
Some loppers will be provided, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. We will also be walking around, looking for undiscovered flora.
Date: September 15 (Tuesday)
Time: 10am to 2pm
Location: Dieperink Woods (previously Brokken Woods)
Afton, MN
We will meet at the gate on the cul-de-sac at the south end of the property: at the far eastern end of 42nd St. S in Afton, MN. There is plenty of room to park.

After our lunch break, we will take a walk around the site, look at what’s blooming, collect seeds, and do some botanizing.

Seed Collecting at Mounds View Grassland
Thursday, September 17 – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Mounds View Grassland in Barneveld, WI
We will be collecting prairie seed that will be used for restoration projects at various sites managed by The Prairie Enthusiasts. We may clean/process seed if it is too windy or wet to collect.
WHAT TO BRING:
Long pants, water, and hat. If you have hand pruners, bring them, otherwise they will be provided.

(Note: A half mile down F from 18-151, pay close attention to the road signs, for F turns to the right & the straight-ahead road becomes County Z. Stay on F.)
